Did you get a new sewing machine for Christmas? (Or buy one for yourself?) Do you want to learn how to use your machine while working on a project of your choice?
This guided Lab Time is for you. It is designed to teach you how to use your own machine on a single project that you get to choose. Each student works at their own pace in a small class setting, after being guided through the basic functions and set up of your machine. Pattern reading and problem solving will be emphasized throughout the class in order to prepare you for continuing your sewing on your own at home.
Class format: Four students at a time for a 2 hour class. Sign up and bring your own sewing machine, supplies (rotary cutter, pins, scissors, ruler, thread), and the pattern for your chosen project. Come to class and complete your project at your own pace!
If you don't know how to use your machine, we will go over the basics and get you up and running. Make sure you bring your owner's manual and if the machine has been sitting for years, I would suggest you get it serviced to avoid lots of frustration.
A DISCLAIMER: I can muddle through simple garment projects, but garment sewing is not my expertise. If you are wanting to sew dresses, skirts, or jackets, it will be best to go with another instructor. Michelle at Beverly's Fabrics or Bella at Bella Studio in Monterey.
